My current project is based around the idea of balance and harmony, how we can achieve that through being curious about life. Choosing the image of an apple as symbol of the above, I have drawn inspiration from religion, mythology, literature. The daring, curious gesture of Eve grabbing an apple from the tree gave the humankind the knowledge of Good and Evil. ‘Two halves of one apple’ in Polish language is a commonly used saying to describe soulmates. Like Mother and Daughter, like father like son. It brings to mind the Platonic myth of Aristophanes who explains the origins of humans – eight-limbed creatures who grew so powerful Zeus had to split them in half and since then they live on Earth constantly seeking the wholeness they had lost. To me it is especially relevant in case of artists, always in search, always seeking. To find balance, harmony is to become whole again.
