Garry Brown

"Garry Brown is a self employed artist, designer and maker operating from Wasps studios in Dundee. His emphasis is on using re-purposed materials to create unique and interesting artworks, his main material is driftwood, which he uses to make sculptural clocks, cabinets, furniture and art objects in his own unique style, drawing from such inspirations as the Art Nouveau movement, Gothic Architecture, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow 'spook' school, and fantasy artists of the 70's such as Rodney Matthews and Roger Dean.

He also creates 2d art in acrylic paint on recycled board, using bright and fluorescent colours with black outlines on white backgrounds to illustrate imaginative explorations into the world of " beyond", depicting strange characters, creatures, products and symbology in a style that combines fine art with comic book illustration. Since studying a degree course in three dimensional design at Bristol Art college in the late eighties, Garry has endeavoured to experiment with different materials to create interesting artworks with an emphasis on ethical awareness."
