A graduate of Gray’s School of Art in Ceramics, Sheena Laurie started a teaching career in 1974 at Carnoustie High School..
When her eldest daughter was born in 1986 she left teaching and seized the opportunity to start up Craw’s Nest Pottery.
The name was chosen as Sheena’s maiden name was Crowe and as the original name for Carnoustie was possibly Crawsnestie, it seemed an appropriate name for the venture.
On returning to teaching she kept up her pottery as a hobby, but now finally retired she if fully committed to her craft of potting.
Her work is mainly functional hand thrown pieces or handbuilt using stoneware and porcelain clays.
